Stafford's Wastewater Treatment Facilities Earn National Awards

Stafford’s two wastewater treatment facilities, Aquia and Little Falls Run, have been nationally recognized by the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) for their excellence in wastewater treatment. Both plants have won the Platinum Peak Performance Award from NACWA for 2023 for their outstanding compliance records in the 2023 calendar year. This is a major accomplishment in the wastewater industry and reflects Stafford County Utilities' commitment to providing its customers and community the highest level of service.

Chris Edwards, Director of Utilities, credits good planning and dedicated staff to Stafford’s wastewater treatment facilities' continued success and for receiving the Platinum Peak Performance Award from NACWA. "The Utilities Department, along with the Stafford Board of Supervisors, have been very deliberate in staying abreast of innovation and making upgrades when possible, providing the County with an incredibly high level of service. Also, the depth of knowledge and skill possessed by the employees at the Aquia and Little Falls Run plants is an extremely valuable asset that contributes highly to their success."

This is a remarkable milestone for the Little Falls Run facility, marking its twentieth consecutive year of being recognized as a Platinum Peak Performance Award recipient. The Aquia facility's Platinum award for 2023 is equally impressive, as it signifies its fifth consecutive year of total permit compliance, following its Gold Award win for the past four years. The Platinum Peak Performance Award from NACWA award is given to wastewater facilities that have 100% compliance with State and Federal permit requirements over a consecutive five-year period. This consistent success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of every single staff member at both of Stafford's Wastewater Treatment Facilities.
